The studio

Bought the week of, arranged on site

Fern & Stem is a two-person studio in Somerset, dressing a handful of weddings a year. Nothing is ordered from a catalogue months ahead. We buy at the market in the week of the wedding — so the flowers are the ones the season is actually giving, not the ones a supplier promised months ahead — and we arrange on site that morning, in the room the client is going to stand in.

Somerset

  • Right now: Autumn, September – November. Outside that window we substitute, never stall
  • Stems substitute with the market — the palette is what we agree, not one bloom
  • Arranged on site on the morning of the day
  • Venue access confirmed before the brief is agreed

Kind words

What clients say

  • “They brought the barn’s own light into the flowers — bone and olive, nothing that competed with the room.”

  • “We moved the date by three weeks and the palette moved with it. Nobody made it feel like a problem.”

Questions

Before you write

We say so at the brief and offer what the market is giving that week. The season decides what is grown here and what has to be brought in; the strip above names the one we are buying in, and we tell you which stems that is before you decide.
