Questions
Flat, in the box it arrives in, somewhere dry and out of the light. Cotton paper takes a mark from anything left on top of it, and a stack of envelopes will print its own edge onto the card beneath. Do not stand the cards on edge and do not put a rubber band around them.
The impression holds — letterpress ink sits in the paper rather than on it, so it does not rub away. What fades is the sheet: a card left in a sunny window will yellow across a summer. Keep the suite in its box, and turn the one on the mantelpiece round now and then rather than leaving one face to the light.
A fibre-tip or a fountain pen with a dry ink. A gel pen sits on the surface of a sized sheet and takes hours to dry, which is how a stack of addressed envelopes ends up smudged. Write one, leave it an hour, and only then write the rest — and write on a spare card underneath so the impression does not come through.
The brief
Answer what you can. Nothing is booked by sending this — it starts a conversation.
